«Rostok» is a kin's settlement founded in 2002, famous for its adobe houses with an unusual shape and a unique school, where the parents themselves are teachers. We have already told you about this settlement. What's new?
For the past few years, every summer an eco-festival has been held in «Rostok». This is a powerful, awakening holiday, full of interesting, lively communication. In July of this year, the festival took place in an unusual place, on a “training” hectare of land. This plot is arranged as a kin’s domain, with all its inherent components. It has a hedge, a hexagonal house made of straw blocks, a bathhouse, a vegetable garden, a greenhouse, and a gazebo. The site is located on the bank of the river that goes around the settlement. In normal times, people who want to try life on their Land and see if they are ready to move can live here for a week or two. So during the festival, guests were able to see and feel this space from the inside, plunge into the atmosphere of life in the kin’s settlement, and taste the way of life of their ancestors. The eco-festival in «Rostok» included many activities: round dances, outdoor games, morning yoga classes, craft classes, seminars and round tables on the topic of life in Kin’s Domains and ecology, performances by bards and musical groups, evening gatherings and songs around the fire, vegetarian and raw food... The festival also hosted an eco-fair. Here you could buy environmentally friendly products from the settlement, as well as purchase or rent linen clothes for participation in round dances and photo shoots during the festival.
Of course, the life of a settlement consists not only of holidays and festivals. In addition to creation and work in their Spaces of Love, settlers are actively involved in social activities. One of the central tasks of «Rostok» as a single society is to grow and educate a new happy generation. From an early age, children are allowed to choose their own activities, areas of study, and entertainment. The teenagers of the settlement created their own public organization - the «Youth Group of the Rostock Settlement». They participate in solving general issues of the settlement, engage in joint creativity, and travel: for example, they go to visit other settlements, go to youth gatherings, or to other events that interest them. When traveling, they are always accompanied by adults, but planning the trip and choosing entertainment always remains with the members of the youth group. From an early age, children from «Rostok» learn responsibility and curiosity about the world around them.
