Kin’s settlement Milenki was founded in 2006 by like-minded people who were looking for a place to create a space of love for their families. What is living in «Milenki»? It is a life in harmony with nature in a picturesque territory that borders the Ugra National Park; it is endless fields surrounded by untouched forests; it is mutual assistance and daily work that brings joy and worthy fruits.
How it all began
The founders of the settlement were several families from the nearest city - Kaluga. Most of them came here with children of different ages. The site for the settlement was chosen very carefully: it was an ecologically clean place. There are fields that have not been cultivated for a long time. The have mixed-grass meadows, pines and birches. Even today, wild strawberries and mushrooms grow right on the parcels, and near the settlement one can find many wild birds and animals: hares, roe deer, and foxes.
People from all regions of Russia joined the initiative group. They also come here from abroad: from Ukraine, Greece and Germany.
How the settlement lives now
At the moment, more than 100 families live on the territory of the settlement. New settlers are welcome here. Everybody who shares the ideals of the residents and dreams of the same way of life can join.
There is an elementary school in the settlement, where parents participate in the educational process. Settlers with a pedagogical education work as teachers.
In order to acquaint new people with the settlement, guest days are held monthly. Visitors can stay in a specially built guest house. On these days, you can chat with residents and examine free lands. One of these land plots may be suitable for creating your own space of love.
In addition to guest days, other events are held in the settlement: seminars on various topics and children's camps. Residents of «Milenki» regularly gather for holidays: Earth Day, Equinox, and Kupala. Also settlers organize theatrical performances and talent festivals.
Natural products grown in the settlement, and various hand-made products from here can be purchased at the fair. Residents of «Milenki» offer teas, honey, dried mushrooms, organic vegetables, medicinal herbs, wax candles, natural fabrics, carved furniture, and much more.
