If Nature is not disturbed, it will plant trees itself, it will cherish forests and gardens. Why should we plant trees?
I agree with this position in relation to growing plants. But I still plant on my kin’s domain. Why?
1. Because I like it! We even chose the site for our kin’s domain in an open field, and not in the forest. Not to cut down, but to create.
2. I do it to enhance local diversity. For a long time, people have planted only what they need — productive tree species. But animals need a home, food, remedies... There are a huge number of plant species that are necessary for animals, not for humanity. We can help Nature by planting them.
3. People use wood too quickly. Nature does not have time to grow enough trees to replace those cut down... But people need to breathe, living beings need homes...
I understand that my activities on a large scale are a drop in the ocean and this cannot help globally. But I want to improve life on our planet at least a little.
4. I consider the most effective contribution to Nature to be the arrangement of a kin’s domain. Take yourself a hectare, two, or three... and take responsibility for this piece of land: preserving rare species, diversity of healing plants, honey plants, planting hollow trees (these are the future homes of natural inhabitants)... At the same time, you do not need to keep every square meter of your kin’s domain in perfect order. It’s not just that Nature is organized this way, a little in chaos...
Some believe that planting only on your own domain is a great egoism: “They only think about themselves, they arrange it for themselves. We must go and plant around, in no-man’s lands!” I think this idea is a big mistake. Not everyone decides to develop a large plot of land, occupy it not only with a garden, but also with a forest that does not bring direct benefits.
Of course, it’s easier to plant a bunch of plants in a field and feel like a hero. But then you don’t know about the further fate of these plants, you don’t observe their growth, you don’t care about them.
Let's support each other and not our pride. Let’s make the world around us a little better.
